How voice files, recorders, equipment and devices work with 5AMCoorp.
How are voice files managed in your company?
A secure login account will be given which enables the medical professional to speak or dictate straight into the server. Our technical team of transcribers downloads this and transcribes the voice files. Tabs can be kept on dictations and the speaker or the person who is dictating will be able to know the position of each file which goes through 3 levels of quality control.
As per the standards in your company, which is the best hand-held recorder that you would recommend?
Though there are various models in the market with varying prices, our company recommends Olympus DS 5000.
How are dictations forwarded or uploaded?
5AMCoorp offers a digital handheld recorder and a toll-free telephone which is made available to you 24/7. Dictations can be uploaded or forwarded directly into either of these two devices and uploaded into our FTP server directly.
What kind of tools do medical professionals need to have to dictate clinical documentation?
You will need a computer with the operating system being Windows 98 or a later version, an internet connection with a really fast uploading speed and a handheld device.
Is there any particular timing for a toll-free dictation process?
Our toll-free dictation systems can be accessed 24/7 x 365 and dictated any time and from anywhere.
Does your company supply dictation equipment?
Yes, we supply dictation equipment and can install an on-site Dictation Capture Unit (DCU) on certain contractual agreements at no extra charge.
Are your services Mac-compatible?
Yes, we support Mac OS X and most voice recorders are Mac-compatible.
Can I use my iPhone for dictation into 5AMCoorp services?
Yes, 5AMCoorp will set up an FTP server accessed through Dictamus. You can automatically route dictations to our FTP.
How are dictations processed?
An MT Group will be assigned. Uploaded files go through transcription, quality control, and then made available online.

Getting your transcripts back
Download options, file formats, online access and templates.
Is it possible to get my transcriptions back or download them?
We provide various formats from which you can download or get your files back or download directly from our FTP server. Once we upload your file, we will give you the required information and furthermore, you have the options of printing, emailing or faxing your transcriptions.
Can I access my dictated and transcribed files online at any time?
Yes, definitely. The dictated file will be available for a week's period starting from the time that you have uploaded it. Transcribed files can be accessed for an entire year and then stored in secondary media library for lifetime. Copies of dictated files can be made available if project details are supplied.
How can a downloaded transcription be opened?
Files are usually uploaded in RTF (Rich Text Format), compatible with most word processing software such as Lotus, WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, etc.
Do you know how much it would cost me if I send a fax?
We use online EMR, so it won't cost anything.
Would it be possible to have multiple templates for different types of dictation?
Yes, we offer various templates including referrals, SOAP notes, history, studies, and more.
